Saturday, June 20th

Today was day 2 of bonding. Our son likes to just go to the play room and not outside because he likes playing with the toys, it’s a real treat for him. He likes this one green ball that has a texture to it and it squeaks. He likes the cars, too. Most of the toys are more geared for infants, but he figures out how to play and uses his imagination. I think he likes to see how things work too and if it’s broken he gets a little frustrated. He is used to playing by himself so it’s hard to interact with him and he is so busy with the toys. This is what they do at this age, they don’t want to just sit and be held like an infant, but I know times will come where we can do this. I know this all takes time for us to get to know each other.

There is another couple with a baby in the play room and he calls them Papa and Mama. This is what the children here call any woman or man because that is all they know. Maigul who is the chief caregiver constantly reminds him that WE are his Mama and Papa and tells him to give us a kiss goodbye. The kids in Babyhouse #2 are really well cared for, it’s great to see this in person. I’m looking forward to hearing more about his schedule and seeing where he sleeps, where he eats, etc.

I'm not ready to post pictures yet, just wanting to get more information and get to know our son better. His given name is Roman and we are deciding if we should keep that name as his first name, we do like it. But we wondered if he would want a new name. We will definitely keep this name as either his first or middle name. We haven't decided on another name, yet.

Here are pictures we've taken at the supermarket and some things we have bought:

Katherine, with excitement, I woke up this morning to hear of your bonding. There will be time for cuddling when you read to Roman perhaps at home, or show him photos in a picture book. How did the girls react to news of their bigger baby brother? ;-) Surely, they will have a real playmate now! And how wonderful for Roman to come into a readymade family. Happy Anniversary!!!! Today's is Emma's 7th Bday too.
Enjoy!!

I am so glad you are at peace within yourself. I am so happy for your new party of "5".

Hi - I just found your blog from a yahoo group & wanted to say congratulations! We came home with our son 1/08 from Almaty BH #3. What BH are you at? Looking back on your recent posts brings back memories:) Our son turned 3 right after we brought him home & we kept his given name as his middle name. Our travel blog is http://woods2kaz.blogspot.com if interested.

If you are at hotel Kaz, there is a GREAT pizza place a few blocks up the road on the same side as the hotel.
