June 16th in the afternoon

Tatyana was able to work out a time for us to visit the Babyhouse after 3pm. We arrived at the BH and sat outside the director’s office. After about 10 minutes, we were brought into her office. We were told we would see 2 maybe 3 children and that some children might have medical issues but all were treatable. The first child had severe medical issues, the 2nd child had a medical issue and we weren’t sure what the actual diagnosis was. He was only 6 months old and cute.

The last child Maigul brought out was a big, healthy baby with no issues. He was very smiley and practically jumped in our arms. I’m not sure if that’s because he is just a happy baby or just used to the other local family visiting him. The director said she would call to see if the family is still interested as they are required to give priority to local families. Tatyana is having the medical information about the 2nd child translated. We are supposed to get that in the morning and also find out about the 3rd child. This was a very hard day and very emotional for me.

After our visit to the Babyhouse, we were brought to the government building to meet with the person from the city or district office. She is working for the best interest of the children but is seems really overworked. We had to give her the names of the children we met and give a reason why we denied the first child. She had to check the dates the children were registered and double check if either had siblings. At first she thought one of the boys had a brother and sister, but it turns out she was looking at the wrong name.

After this, we were brought back to our hotel. We walked over to the pizza place Tatyana recommended called ‘Venezia’ and had a good pizza for dinner. We went to our room after to relax. I was starting to feel jet lagged and eventually went to bed about 8:30pm.
