Quick update

I really want to let you know everything that has happened since we left for Kazakhstan but Nicholas has to be under constant supervision. I'm grabbing a few minutes before bed to let you know how we are doing.

This has been the most incredible journey. Nicholas is so sweet (especially when he is sleeping...lol!) and it is such a joy to see him so happy. I do have to be honest that there have been challenges. We are having to teach him boundaries and he is certainly not happy about that.

I want to tell you how the girls have been with him. We arrived home late Saturday afternoon. We ate some dinner and showed Nicholas (we've been calling him Nicholas Roma and Roma) around the house. After about an hour, he became really upset and was wandering around looking for something, like he was missing someone or something from the babyhouse? He had a complete meltdown (we had already experienced a few of these since getting custody...he has been through alot).

So sometime after this meltdown, our friend brings the girls home. Nicholas sees Claire and they run towards each other and hug each other like long lost brother and sister! The funniest thing was seeing him take the girls around the house and show them all the fun toys as if they were just arriving in our house too! It was so cute to see this and when he would point to the toy, Claire would tell him "I already know that". Today at dinner, Claire and Nicholas were making silly faces with each other....they were meant to be siblings! Olivia just kind of rolled her eyes!

Olivia was very happy to meet him too and exclaimed, "He's littler than I thought he would be", I think she thought he would be more their size, but he is barely into a size 3. She really likes to help out and I have to remind her that it is our job to take care of him.

I am so glad that you made it home safe and sound. It sounds like your girls are being a big help in the transition for Nicholas. Our Friday got a little crazy so probably a good thing we didn't try to get dinner. I'm glad we got to meet you on the plane and hopefully we'll meet again at a reunion. Good luck and we'll follow along! Jacqueline

Good to be home I bet! Although this is where it really all begins doesn't it?

I loved the part about him showing the girls around the place like they were new to it all too. So cute! :)

Welcome home, and congratulations on finding ANY time to post the adorable photos -- that in of itself is quite an accomplishment. The airport pics are ADORABLE! We know it will be challenging, and we are sending our prayers of support!

He is just so handsome! Our Nicholas was small for 3 also....had some 24month pants that fit him when we came home. He grew so fast....almost 6 inches in a year. So don't buy too many clothes now....especially pants and shoes....oh, the clothes we went thru that first year! Thank goodness for hand me downs from friends and family. I always bought the "new" stuff bigger just in case! ;) oh, by the way, we have pics up right now on the blog from when he was in Kaz...just to give you an idea on the changes you have in store for the next few years! What fun, What fun! So excited for you and your family.

oh katherine, reading what you wrote about Claire really made me cry! this is just awesome!!!! I know there will be challenges but I can only imagine how much of a help his big sisters will be. He must have felt really proud bringing them around the house showing them the toys too. It's probably good that he thought they were all in the same boat. I look forward to hearing more. If anything, please post pics of Nicholas with the girls!! Is he sleeping through the night or having any night terrors? How did he manage with time change?
