Here is a photo of the first group of students at the Sayonara party they put on for us.
Here I am with 'the girls'. H was really hard to get to know, her English was really limited and being only 14, she was a bit immature. She was more interested in shopping than looking at the majestic Giant Sequoias, including the General Sherman tree (the largest tree in the world). Nonetheless, we all had fun.
Here is the 2nd group of Japanese students. We had M for a whole week, she was 16 and had a better command of English than the other Japanese students we have hosted.
Here we are making pizzas. M loved helping the kitchen and learning about American foods. She was very enthusiastic about being here and one of her first questions to me was 'Can I call you Mom?' I loved that she really enjoyed her stay and she didn't seem very homesick.

Wow, How nice of you to host students! I ddint realise though it was for such a short time. Are they travelling all over UK? or this is how long they come to us for?
M sounds like a lot of fun, and so cute with the emotional attachment so fast. These have got to be great experiences for your girls.
Greetings from Costa Rica!
I was reading your story and it sounds like you had a very nice experience as a host family. I am 21 and female. I am actually a Texas native in a bit of a pickle. I have been living in Costa Rica for the past 10 years. I have to travel to the fort worth area some time next week and stay for about 8 to 10 days. I have a very low budget and I am racking my brain trying to find somewhere to stay. If there was a way to negotiate a price to stay with ya’ll for those days, it would be awesome! I am a graduated cook so I would be more than happy to pitch in or cook for you guys on the days I don’t have to run errands. My mom taught me it never hurts to ask. Please let me know ASAP. If you have any type of response you can write me at far2fragile@gmail.com. Any help at all is appreciated.

Chandler-despite the name of my blog, we do not currently live in Texas. Sorry, I can't help you out. You should try some of the bed and breakfasts in the area you are traveling to, or a youth hostel. Good luck!
